Adoption Fee & Payment

You are required to pay the full adoption fee for each dog before the adoption is finalized. The standard adoption fee is $350 for adult dogs and $200 for senior dogs (7+ years).

What Your Adoption Fee Covers:

• Complete veterinary examination
• All age-appropriate vaccinations
• Spay/neuter surgery
• Microchip registration
• Deworming and flea/tick treatment
• Starter supply kit (food, leash, collar)
• Behavioral assessment and training notes

Why full payment? This ensures only serious adopters and allows us to maintain exceptional standards of care for all our rescue dogs.

The Adoption Process

Timeline: The entire process typically takes 1-2 weeks from application to bringing your dog home.

Health Guarantee

Every dog from Kevin's Rescue is:

• Veterinarian-examined and cleared for adoption
• Up-to-date on all vaccinations
• Spayed or neutered
• Microchipped and registered
• Treated for parasites and given preventative care

14-Day Health Guarantee:

We offer a 14-day health guarantee from the date of adoption. Adopters are strongly encouraged to take their dog to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours for a wellness check.

If a serious, pre-existing health condition is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian within 14 days (with written documentation), we will work with you to:

• Cover reasonable veterinary costs (up to adoption fee amount)
• Offer a replacement dog if the condition is severe
• Provide a full refund if you choose to return the dog

Note: Minor conditions like kennel cough, stress-related diarrhea, or adjustment behaviors are common and not covered under this guarantee.

Adopter Responsibilities

By adopting from Kevin's Rescue, you agree to:

Provide Proper Care:

• Safe, clean indoor housing (dogs must live inside as family members)
• High-quality food and fresh water daily
• Regular veterinary care, including annual check-ups
• Proper grooming and hygiene
• Daily exercise and mental stimulation
• Love, attention, and socialization

Keep Current Information:

• Update microchip registration with your contact details
• Notify us of any address or phone number changes
• Keep ID tags on your dog at all times

Never:

• Sell, give away, or rehome the dog without our written consent
• Use the dog for breeding purposes
• Chain or tether the dog for extended periods
• Leave the dog outside as a "yard dog"
• Abuse, neglect, or abandon the dog

Once the adoption is finalized, full ownership and responsibility are transferred to you. However, we remain available for support and guidance throughout your dog's life.

Adoption Requirements

To adopt from Kevin's Rescue, you must:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have a valid government-issued ID
• Own your home OR have written landlord approval for pets
• Have all current pets spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations
• Agree to a home visit (virtual or in-person)
• Provide veterinary references (if you've had pets before)
• Demonstrate financial ability to care for a dog
• Live within our adoption radius (200 miles) or be willing to travel

Return & Refund Policy

30-Day Adjustment Period:

We understand that sometimes adoptions don't work out. If you're experiencing difficulties within the first 30 days, please contact us immediately. We offer:

• Free behavioral consultation and training advice
• Problem-solving support for common adjustment issues
• Option to return the dog for a full refund (minus $50 processing fee)

After 30 Days:

If you can no longer keep your dog after 30 days, you must:

• Contact Kevin's Rescue first—we have right of first refusal
• Return the dog to us (no refund after 30 days)
• Never rehome, sell, or surrender to a shelter without our knowledge

We care about every dog we rescue. If circumstances change, we want to ensure they return to us rather than end up in an uncertain situation.

Legal Agreement

By adopting a dog from Kevin's Rescue, you confirm that:

• You are at least 21 years old
• You have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions
• All information provided in your application is true and accurate
• You accept full responsibility for the dog upon adoption
• You understand that Kevin's Rescue reserves the right to deny any application
• You agree to allow follow-up contact from Kevin's Rescue

Violation of this agreement may result in legal action and/or reclaiming of the dog.
